Don't you think Vietnam and the Philippines have some things in common?
Like, im vietnamese and part filipino, and either the two groups dont care about eachother, or the filipino's diss on the vietnamese. but i actually think they have some things in common
like, they both were colonized by foreign nations [france and spain] they were influenced by both, and they both had some american influence, since both were kinda with war in america because of the colonization.

in part you are correct, Brian. I've been to HCMC and felt i was just at home. sometimes, i conversed in pilipino before i realized i was talking to a vietnamese vendor in the public market or in the hotel lobby.

I do think VIETNAMESE and FILIPPINOS have something in commn,first we are ASIAN,we got a lot of food alike,VIETNAMESE and FILIPPINOS look alike also,both countries locate on pacific ocean,i never seen FILIPPINOS diss on VIETNAMESE as you post up there but i actually got some FILIPPINOS friends thought!

I've noticed that a lot of Pinoys will diss ALL other Asian groups, and (less experience here) that other Asian goups withh do the same.
It all seems to be about copying the American sterotype of business, success and money. Which is a shame, as the family-orientation and caring nature is the main reason i love the Philippines so much :(
