Dong Dang China?

Has anyone crossed from China to Vietnam at Dong Dang? If so, if you miss the bus or train to Hanoi can you stay in Dong Dang? Is it safe for a single traveller??

?
There are no hotels right at Dong Dang but there are several in the town of Lang Son, the provincial capital only 9 miles away. You can get there by taxi or by bus from the train station. You can get a nice room for $10 to $22/night.

Aside from being very beautiful and hospitable, Vietnam, in my experience, is the safest country I've ever been traveled to and I've traveled extensively in North America, Central America and the Caribbean, Europe and other parts of Asia. If you don't feel safe in Vietnam, you aren't going to feel safe anywhere! So relax and enjoy!

By the way, there are trains that originate in Beijing (the M2 trains on the schedule) and terminate in Hanoi by way of Dong Dang. Book on one of those and you'll never be concerned about massing a connection when you cross over into Vietnam.

However, if you took the other trains and have to stay overnight in Lang Son; it wouldn't be such a bad deal. You'd have the opportunity to see another interesting part of Vietnam.

Hey man, if you're a lonely single traveller in the middle of the night out in the pit dark rural area, you know what's gonna happen right?

Heh...heh...They gonna take turn to drill your holes.

So be careful!!
