hi, i've been to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon, Vietnam) last 2005 and i just only had passport, plane ticket, and show money. When you get to Vietnam you can get your temporary visa there as tourist for 6 months, that's what i did. If you plan to go to ho chi minh city or saigon there's immigration office there.
When i was there in ho chi minh city the rate of hotel was $5 per day but there are also higher than that. Regarding about food.. it's nice and there are also expensive and not just like there in Philippines.
My bad experience there in Ho Chi Minh they will take advantage to the foreigners gaya din sa atin.. Every time i asked cup of hot water they charge me for $1 kahit hot water lang... so, what i did i went to my favorite restaurant mas mura pa. When you get to airport dun ka na magpachange sa pera mo... the name of their money is donc.
Though they're like that but they're friendly.. most of them friendly.. but watch out ka lang sa mga magnanakaw.. mayron don.. mas grabe cuz nobody will gonna protect you even police officer.. most of them cannot speak English.
In vietnam esp in Ho Chi Minh City there are different races there like *****, Indians, Filipino, Chinese (bihira lang), Americans, Italian, and some other people.. pero mas marami ***** at americans.
Just tell me which city that you are going to cuz i have friends there and infact they are also filipino.
