IF you like the hustle and bustle of the city, you should go for Ho Chi Minh City or to the capital Ha Noi. As I live in Ho Chi Minh City, so I just know some of the places in Ho Chi Minh City, not Hanoi. SO I just recommend some of the places for entertainment in Ho Chi Minh City.
* SOME BARS:
+ Bar Apocalypse Now
+ Seventeen Saloon
+ Gossip (the music can blow your pants, I had difficulty hearing after going out of this bar, anyway, lots of chics here)
+ D&D bar (lots of teens with hip hop music)
* SHOPPING:
You can shop at Saigon Square, lots of FAKE brand name clothes. LOL! Abercrombie Fitch for example, Puma, Addidas, Nike, etc. at a bargain prices. And some exported clothes sold there are also at a reasonable prices. For authentic brand name stuff, try Diamond Plaza, Zen Plaza, Parkson Plaza( there are 3 ones: 1 in Chinatown, 1 in Saigon Center, and the other is opposite to the Vietnam International Airport TÂN SƠN NHẤT), and other super markets.

You can also go to Da Lat or Nha Trang if you don''t have much time. In Da Lat, you can enjoy the mountain and the pure air, and in Nha trang, it's the beach and the water sports that people enjoy the most. So it's up to your taste to choose where to go.

Actually, in the North, there are some nice landscape too. But it will take a lot more than 5 days to visit. So I just suggested some places that are not too far away

First of all, you have already completely screwed up your travel itinerary. Your stay in Vietnam is way too short and you’re leaving just before things start to get fun. I have never seen such a huge Christmas event at anywhere or any place as I had seen in Ho Chi Minh City. District 1 from Diamond Plaza to Ben Thanh Market is a great big Christmas and New Year party that is practically nonstop for two weeks. Keep in mind that Vietnam is over 85% Buddhist and had been communist controlled for decades, which makes it even more amazing.

You want to spend what little time you have in Vietnam in the city that will give you the most of what you’re looking for. That’s going to be Ho Chi Minh City. HCMC’s nightlife is so happening that there are parts of the city that hasn’t closed in ten years. By contrast, Hanoi literally shuts down by midnight. There’s plenty of exciting and interesting things to do within and nearby HCMC where you won’t waste the little time you have being transported from one location to another.

I would strongly suggest that you change your plans to stay in Vietnam until after the Julian New Year (January 1), which is another reason for Ho Chi Minh City to throw a huge party. The extra time will allow you to travel around the country a bit too. However, from personal experience you won’t regret it if you stay in HCMC for the duration of the holiday season.

as the other says is good but you can also go to
Cu Long in the delta,or Cu Che(not spells right)
to learn about the tunnels complex,the people are very friendly But do watch out for your $$
don't give out US money.also be care-full when
you walk around you might get hit by someone
