If you want to bring your own electronics then be sure to bring a converter otherwise you're going to fry your stuff. Since it's spring you need to bring bug spray to fight off all the mosquitoes that are going to feast on you at night and sunblock because you are going to be fried if you don't. It's going to be hot and sunny so carry a fan, hat, and sunglasses. You should keep your cool because you can go to jail for a very long time...my uncle is still in jail over there. The natives especially those of authority like in the airport will try to push you around and give you a hard time and question your every moves so that's where tossing them a dollar or two will get them off your back but then again if you talk back to them then they would get off your back as well. Like this one time when we were leaving Vietnam at one of the security check points one of the airport lady wanted to check what's inside my aunt's purse so my aunt yelled at her it's none of her business what's in her purse and the lady just backed off.

im going there to in 3 weeks im bring the outlet thingy so i can charge my ipod
oh yea mosquito repellent and where ru going by the way which part and city depends on weather
oh attitude just chill if ur cool then they r cool dont complain too much about the weather too
other than that have fun =]

If you are polite, people will be polite. If you truly have an attitude problem, people will probably still be polite, but you will add to the bad image that some Vietnamese may have of obnoxious foreigners.

I have been through Vietnamese customs many times. If I could only get the same level of respect and civil behavior coming to the US, American customs wouldn't be the pain that it has become.

From the sound of your question, you are very excited about going to the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.

You only have a week--you need to do a lot of Internet research between now and departure, so that you will get the most value out of your trip.

Which countries will you fly over and stop in on the way? Are you in the USA? Get a seat on the right-hand side of the place, for the best view of the Aleutian Islands on the way. The right side will also give you the best view of Fuji Yama, if you are going to stop in Japan on the way.

Don't take DVD players--and don't waste time watching DVD's.

Be prepared to be amazed and delighted and inspired and horrified. Get ready for the best coffee in the world, and wonderful food (DON'T GO NEAR AMERICAN FAST FOOD PLACES--you will be glad if you experiment and try stuff that is unfamiliar).

You will find a land of wondrous beauty--and warm and hospitable people.

My daughter just had her first trip to Asia. She came to Taiwan (where we live) then she went with her mother to Hong Kong, PR China, Malaysia, Cambodia, and Viet Nam. She liked Viet Nam the best.

Army buddies would always tell me that Koreans are crazy for Spam. They'd bring it along for trading. Maybe Vietnam is the same way.

I've also heard that double stuff oreos are hot stuff overseas.

You would HAVE to be polite to your elders uhmmm... i think that besides that just have fun. so... these are some of the things that you need:
-sunblock (it is SUPER hot there)
-summer clothes like shorts,tanks,sandals,ect...
-money (there are a lot of stylish clothes over there that are ten times cheaper then clothes over at america or wherever your from.)

I can't really think of anything else but I'm sure you'll be fine with things I recommended. Have fun!
