1.) Yes, Vietnam is a country. North Vietnam captured Saigon in 1975, and renamed it after their iconic leader, Ho Chi Minh, and renamed the city Ho Chi Minh City. Hanoi remians the capital of Vietnam.
2.) Vietnam is unified. One government, one people, one tax system, one set of laws, and... one party. The Communist Party is the only party in Vietnam, it is a one party state.
3.) By the constitution of Vietnam, it is a communist nation. Through World Trade Organization influence, much of its legislature has leaned more towards capitalist ideology over the old communist ideology. The National Assembly, which is the legislative, or lawmaking body of the government is elected. Although about 8% of the population belongs to the communist party, "About 80% of the deputies in the National Assembly are Communist Party members." |

Yes, it's a country. There has not been a "north" and "South" Vietnam since the "liberation" of the South by the north in 1975, when it was re-unified (it had been divided in 1954 by the U.N., long story). Note I did not capitalize the word "north" above: not out of disrespect; the north never recognized that there were 2 Vietnams, so to them it was, as it now is, just Viet Nam (that's the way they spell it)
It's not really a democracy. They hold elections, but there's only one party, called the Communist party. It's actually about as communist as my Aunt Mable; using the word is just paying lip service to an outmoded dream. It is a socialist state, that is, that many of the major industries; the utilities (gas, electricity), the trains (most of them anyway), dams, many large factories, and so on, are still state run, though the government is trying to turn over more and more to the private sector. Hey, the U.S. has taken over the banks, so who's what? Anyway the U.S. still considers Viet Nam to be a "non-market" economy; but it's a case of the pot calling the kettle black. Go to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), and you will see raging capitalism in action. |

1. yes
2. sort of, north and south are a little different now so people say whether or not they are from N or S
3. communist unfortunately
this is for vietnam |

1. Yes, it is.
2. No, since the communists in the North Vietnam won the war, the whole country fell to communism.
3. The South Vietnam used to be democratic, but, as I said on the above, now Vietnam is a communist country. In April 30, 1975, after the North won and the U.S. troops widthraw from the South, the country fell to communism. To Vietnamese people in the South, that was the same as loosing their country. It leaded to the event called "boat people", in which many people from the South Vietnam decided to leave their country, throw their lives on several small boats, across the sea and illegally immigrant to the U.S. Therefore, nowaday, most of Vietnamese people you see in the U.S. are people from the South or have parents who are from the South Vietnam. And they are still following the Democratic and (somehow) against the Communism inside the country. |

Yes, Vietnam is a country. It was divided into north and south, but it was united in the 1970s, by the communists. Like China, Vietnam is communist only in name now. |
