For a great advice giver (says in your profile) you seem to ask pretty silly questions .
Are you really mature enough to be considering this yourself ? . If you are still worried about Mommies opinions Vietnam may not be for you , this is an amazing country but when you get there you are on your own ,you live on your own devices and it sounds like Mom is worried about your capabilities not you friends . No disrespect intended but its not a place where you have a Travel Rep to sort out the many issues you will encounter. |

if he is 18 i think his mom & dad don't have much say in it..i think hes considered an adult... have him make his own arrangements, book his own flight, pay his own way ,and he'll be technically on his own... |

My advice would be as follow:
The Ten Commandments'
1. plan your trip and get travel insurance
2. take the necessary injections and grab a pack of Immodium (belly
ache tablets) or equivalent in your country!!
3. watch what you eat (especially ice) and drink plenty of water (bottled) as rehydration is key there
4. book some guided tours (very safe) if not sure about self travelling
5. traffic is chaottic, so be very careful when crossing the roads
6. dont interefere with others peoples business
7. avoid promiscuous activities (especially at night)
8. respect the local laws and religion
9. always ask questions if you are unsure
10.carry ID of where you are staying and important contact numbers
Saigon is bustling and full of fun especially at nights...
Hanoi is tranquill, beautiful and full of culture...
The people are lovely, prices are cheap, food and entertainment is abundant...
Both are fantastic cities and you and your mate will have a ball!
I believe you both should really take the plunge and experience it for the lifetime memories. |
