Halong Bay Tour options in Vietnam?

once you're in ha noi it is Very easy to get 1-2 -3 day or more tour to ha long.. you can also go on your own.. another option is cat ba island in ha long bay .everyone that ive heard speak of cat ba says they dont like americans there but also say it is just great and not to be missed.. if i were to spend more than 1 day in ha long i would do it on the island rather than sleep on a damp boat... its not expensive.. nothing in vietnam is out of your price range or better said, " there will always be something in your price range..."

Basically you get what you pay for. We went with Ganoa through our hotel. It was cheap at about $98 US each.2 nights/3 days - Meals and the junk were fine - the hotel on Cat Ba was stark, but a very nice room.We did change around junks quite a bit as we went on to Cat Ba and did a trek. They had very basic equipment for kayaks etc. It is nice to do a kayak - but if you want to, check they have decent equipment. Ours was frankly not that safe.But going through Bat Cave was nice. And you could have lunch on a lovely beach on a small island.

Others went on a package twice as expensive with a different company, Columbus and were very happy, although they did similar things. We shared a junk for a day and did the same trek. So not sure it was worth the extra they paid.

It is not worth going to Cat Ba Island unless you can have two nights and a day there. You arrive late and leave early and see nothing if just overnight.

The Chinese Junk is great though.

Well....i dont know what the prices are....
i was there in 2007....and the things you can buy there are very expensive...because its a tourist centre....so
one night was about 30 euros i think

but halong bay.....i couldnt expect to see that
....it was BORING!!! -.-

The best option for Halong bay is 2 days 1 night ( overnight on the boat or styled junk). It is quite fantastic if you can do some kayaking or visiting some coral reef, caves.
If you are a person of nature lovers, you should do the tours heading to Monkey island where the resort is quite good yet not expensive.
