Vietnam is a beautiful country in Asia.
People are so kind and many people can speak English (not fluent though), so you will not have a difficulties in there.
It would be interesting to visit some memorable places during the war and also beach area is super beautiful.
Biggest cities I've been in Vietnam are Hanoi, Hochimin and Danag and Hanoi was the best for my case.
Regarding Expenses, $200 per day would be more than enough for hotel/food/sighting during your stay.
Have Fun in there! |

Ok fist of all if you stay in ho chi minh city. You dont have to pay 120.00 for a night in hotel. I stayed at a very nice hotel for 25.00 a night with a mini bar in it. Oh ya are you american. I am and when i was there everyone stars at you. So get used to it. Its like being a rockstar lol. I had no prob with officals. I seen them every where. Dont worry. Just watch out not to get riped off by those taxis. If you see the fare going up quick or not mounted on the dash get out. Get out find another taxi there are many good ones. have fun i will be over there agian in febuary. |

I've been staying in vietnam for over a month. So far the experience has been fantastic. Beautiful girls everywhere.. infact, the female race out number the males... that if you are a male..
Besides females, there are lots and lots of motorbikes everywhere. So watch out when you cross the roads.
The people are friendly but not everyone speaks fluent English. Currency of trade is the Vietnam Dong and USD.
Hotel cost from USD 30 upwards.
Transportation around the city is by car (taxi), motorbike (taxi) or on foot. Prices are reasonable.
Tap water is clean, but not drinkable.
Plenty of local tours that you could signup with when you here.
Best hotel in my opinion is Sheraton - USD 180 per night. |

we had a great time in Saigon in April. Prices are very cheap- if you know Thailand it is even cheaper!! We got an executive floor room with complimentary breakfast, evening snacks and unlimited drinks between 5.30 and 7.30pm for just over £60 a night for the room. For things to do, have a look at my trip report below |

Take cash.
Be careful though, they (gov officials) will tell you all these lies and hassle you into paying them bribes. Stand strong when they try to tell you have to have a "special VISA". They tried to get me for an extra $500 USD while I was in Hanoi. The local people are very curtious and helpfull, but the gov there is corrupt.
The food is outstanding if your into that kind of stuff. I had no problems eating off the street vendors. Just make sure you get bottled water when your able. Best of luck. |

I have been luck enough to have been 3 times, you will not find a better place, it is enchanting. Three "must see's" are for a city, Hanoi, for the beach Hoi An (and a delightful town thrown in), and mountains go to Sapa. I have travelled there on a budget, someone else mentioned $200 per day, that is ridicluous, I can not see how you could spend that much if you tried, decent hotels in hoi an you can haggle down to $15 USD per night eg www.thuyduonghotel-hoian.com/tduong3/. Have a gr8 trip, I am envious. Everything in the country is negotiable. |
