The south central coast has Vietnam’s finest beaches and the best-known beach resort is Nha Trang with its white sandy beach and swaying palm trees.
Most of Nha Trang’s accommodation is directly opposite the beach and one, the 5-star Ana Mandara Resort, is right on the beach. Needless to say life in Nha Trang revolves around the beach and the sea for both visitors and locals.
A boat trip on the clear blue-green waters of Nha Trang Bay with some snorkeling among the coral reefs and a fresh seafood lunch is a great way to spend a day in Nha Trang. For scuba divers there are several diving shops along the beach offering professional dive services.
Away from the beach Nha Trang has some other interesting attractions including Long Son Pagoda, with its enormous seated white Buddha statue, and the 7th century Po Nagar Cham Towers.

I have been to Nha Trang several times. It seems a pleasant place. I like the food, the people seemed very nice. I would go back again given the opportunity.
I was always there on business, so I can't really talk about hard-core tourism things. However, if I were going to VN and had only one or two places to go, Nha Trang would not be it (but that is because of my personal interests). I would prefer to spend limited time in Ha Noi, squeeze in a quick trip to Sapa if I had the time, and then expand from there.
If you have friends / family in VN, they should be able to help you pick where to go. Otherwise, look at you available time, your personal interests - and get your internet search skills moving!
VN is great. The Vietnamese people I have met have been great. The country is WELL WORTH visiting. Nha Trang would be fun.
Enjoy! |

Nha Trang is a great place to visit and is very enjoyable , but it has lost a lot of its charm over the past decade as tourist's come here in there masses . I still would always visit but it has sold its soul , i remember going on Mama Hhan's Green boat tours . That alone made the place legendary . All the entertainment the westerner wants is there and there are loads of places to travel to from there . |

Nha Trang is a wonderful place to visit. It doesn't have much street noise and lovely beaches. Tons of places to go in Nha Trang when I was 6 years old, we went to Monkey Island and it was fun. I'm not 6 years old anymore. Haha(: You could go scuba diving there. Pho in Nha Trang is quite good. I'm sharing some of the things I did when I was in Nha Trang. Plus, my mom is from Nha Trang, so it's nice to visit the city. If you were planning on going to Nha Trang, it's a wonderful place! |

Well, today is January first and we've been in Nha Trang for a week. Today we're heading out and flying back to Ho Chi Minh City. All in all, we've had a good time here in Nha Trang, but we're still dissapointed that it rained every day since we've been here.
Yesterday we headed back to the mud baths we found before. We spent about 4 1/2 hours there this time instead of 1 1/2 hours. They let us sit longer in the mud this time too. Then we swam around in the mineral water swimming pools for hours, switching pools to vary the temperature. They had 5 different pools. They also had this waterfall that you could sit under and let the water pound your back. That was fun.
Tuesday we went and got an 80 minute foot, head and back massage. This was great, and the back massage was with hot stones which was sooo nice. I got this all for $10 USD. Not bad at all. Then we wondered back and went shopping. I hadn't done much shopping since I've been here, so I got that all out of the way. I picked up some beautiful paintings on rice paper and silk for so cheap. Only $4 USD each for a nice size. I also found some beautiful paintings on laquered wood. I bought three and they were each 120,000 dong each. That is a little expencive to me, but actually rediculusly cheap. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with all this art, but I like the idea of having a cool house someday with things from every country I've been to. Ha, doubt that will ever happen.
New Years in Nha Trang was probably the best night out we've had so far. We bar hopped around, and while we weren't incredibly impressed with any of the places we went to, this one bar called Guava seemed to have the most excitement we've seen so far. They also had a boy performing various feats such as swallowing knives, eating hot coals, eating fire and the most rediculus of all was taking a snake (just a little harmless garter snake or something) and sticking it up his nose and pushing it down and through his mouth. Hardly anyone clapped for him, and I felt bad. I think we were all just staring in shock at the things he was doing.
Anyway, I still need to pack and get ready to head for Ho Chi Minh now. I also want to get out and take some photos before I leave too. I hope I have enough time! |

Nha Trang is ok but sort of reminds me of a spainish resort. There is not much sigtseeing to be done but the people and entertainment are good. In particular the Why not bar and Blue Gecko bar.
I did rent a bike one day and went cliff jumping into a waterfall which is about a 20min ride outside of town. Meet a really nice local family who gave me beer and food. :D |

I was in Nha Trang a month ago on vacation from Saigon where I am living and teaching now for years. Nha Trang is clean, people friendly, safe, food is fantastic and to your taste with great night life and intertainment. A room at a 4 or 5 star hotel right on the beach is about 240 usd a night but they can be talked down or better yet hit the off season for a great discount as in Jan or Feb, but the water is still warm but no crowds... Yes, I have. It is the farthest place that I've ever traveled in VN. Among the places I've visited in VN , I love that place the most (partly becuz there is nice beach and good food). It's also the place where I first play a kind of "water sports" called parasailing, really impressive I would say.
The people? I wouldn't say that they are NICE PEOPLE. Cuz there are all sorts of people everywhere, can't say that they are nice or not nice.
About history, I don't see anything special about the history of Nha Trang. Just as normal as where I'm living in, no striking events.
The thing I would like to do in Nha Trang is to ride a bike around the city but I couldn't make it last time ( exhausted after the long trip of 6 hours from where I'm living). Could be fun I guess. |
