1) Why did you go and when?
2) What were your emotions?
3) What were the emotions of the people around you?
4) Did you know anyone on the wall?
5) Where you related to anyone on the wall?
6) How many times have you been?
7)When was the last time you were there?
8) Did you see any vertians there? What were their emotions like?
9) What were you expecting before you got there?
I'm not asking you to do my project for me, I just need an interview.
1) i'm 1/2 Vietnamese 1/2 Native American. My Mother was born in Vietnam. My Grandfather served in the South Vietnamese Army. Both my Father & my Stepfather served in the Vietnam War. I saw the Memorial when my family visited D.C. back (OMG) in 1992.
2) Even at thirteen i felt an overwhelming sadness. So many lives lost. And that doesn't even come close to the Vietnamese lives lost.
3) Again, sadness.
4) Didn't know them (i wasn't born when they died)
5) My Father lost a Brother & a Cousin. He wasn't on this trip (later he rode his Harley there with a group of Veterans) but he asked me & my older Sister to touch & read the names of both family members & other Tribal Members that died in Vietnam. My Stepfather lost a Cousin & many friends that were like brothers to him (from his unit).
6) Once
7) Back in '92.
8) I was with my family. Including my Stepdad. Many other men from my Stepdad's unit where there too (it was a planned get together). My Stepfather (served as a U.S. Navy SEAL) cried. I mean cried. If you new him (I still call him daddy) you would know how powerful that was.
9) I was scared that some of my Stepdad's old friends wouldn't like my Mom, Sister & Me 'cuase we are Vietnamese. Hey, I was a kid. I was also really nervous about how important this was too everyone around me. It was a bit overwhelming.
I hope that helps. I also hope an actual Vietnam Veteran answers this too. If one does I'd like to say thank you for trying to save my ancestral country from injustice. You are remembered You are loved.
