Sorry to ask, but there IS a big difference with Viet Kieu.
I have lived in Vietnam for almost 17 years.
Despite all the ups and downs during the last 17 years, I really have nothing critical to say about the country except for the traffic, which continues to be a disaster.
Most of this is due to a lack of education of the motorists, but eventually this will change.
Vietnamese have the best attitude of all the people I have met, namely that they prefer to remember the past, but live in the present.
Unfortunately, due to the rapid development of the country, older traditions are getting left behind, mostly in regards to the family unit.
This is the biggest danger that Vietnam faces. If the family unit breaks down, we will see trouble over time.
To me, Vietnam is home and I am quite happy. |
