Hotels in Hanoi Old Quarter are extremely noisy!?

Whatever hotel you pick check to see if there is a disco close by, construction near by and then go find another hotel. We usually try to get a back room fairly high up with out any construction or disco close to it.

We are staying at Golden Sun Hotel next month and I would also recomend either of the two Elequence Hotels. Good luck.

My hubby & I stayed in Hanoi's Old Quarter for 3 nights in February. It's called "The Majestic Salute Hotel" We found our room to be very quiet. However the rooms that face the road will be noisier. If you can get an inside room, it would be good. The hotel has one of the best locations in the old quarter.We loved it there. The rooms were smallish, but we only slept there, so it didn't really matter to us. Its a 3 star, so nothing fancy, but has 2 resaraunts & a bar, also internet.

I'd like to recommend you to stay at Sofitel Metropole if money is not an issue for you. Otherwise you can stay at Majestic Salute hotel as described in the last post.
For 2 star hotel, you should stay at Salute Hotel which is next to Hoan Kiem Lake. The hotel is located in a small street which covered by many green and old trees. The rooms are very nice as well.

The nice thing about the Hoan Kiem District (which the Old Quarter is a part of) is everything being within walking distance. If you want quiet and can afford the price, then consider the Hilton Hanoi Opera in the French Quarter.

What you may not realize is Hanoi rolls up the streets shortly after midnight, because there is a 12:00 AM curfew for motorbikes and cars to be parked along many of the major streets there. Before midnight are six million Vietnamese on their motorbikes scampering everywhere like there is no tomorrow. Shortly after midnight, all of Hanoi becomes so quiet that you can almost hear a pin drop from across Hoan Kiem Lake. I have never seen so many people vanish in such a short time. That in mind, any hotel in the Old Quarter will be quiet if you can tough it out until midnight.

What's going to suck for you is the Hanoians get up before dawn, do their morning exercise and are at work by 7:00 AM. Hanoi is going to sound like the middle of Los Angeles while you're trying to steal an extra hour's sleep in the morning because you're on holiday. My advice: Get so blistering drunk at a bia hoi before going to bed that a pack of elephants stampeding through your room couldn't wake you up.

It is not really the old quarter but close you can still walk is the Hanoi Hilton Opera which is nice and quiet. I have stayed at two hotels down in the old quarter and the honking just drove me crazy. I did like the Metropole which is close to the Hilton but the noise although not as bad as the old quarter still noisy.

One of the nicest and quietest hotels to stay is the Sheraton by the lakes nice view but you will need to take a taxi to the old quarter about 5-8 minutes.
