I was born in Vietnam. What documents/materials do I need to obtain a valid Vietnamese passport, and where can I get it done?
I only have a green card and my original birth certificate that says I was born in Vietnam. I have no other Vietnamese documentation, no old passports.
If you are going to direct me to the Vietnamese Embassy in the US, please tell me specifically what I should do there..
Someone please help.. =( Additional Details I have already TRIED to get US citizenship, but I was told I had to wait a few more years in order to qualify since I received my green card in 2006.. -__- Also, I am not returning to Vietnam. I need a passport to travel out of the country legally.
I would contact an attorney in the Vietamese community. Having been born in Vietnam makes you a Viet citizen. Having a green card does not make you an American citizen, although you may still qualify for an U.S. passport.

Why would you want a Vietnamese passport? Don't you want to be a legal resident of the US anymore? Think about the legal implications of what you are doing, especially after your return to Vietnam.
