How do I go about dating in Vietnam (Saigon)?

I just moved to Saigon a few weeks ago for work. I didn't come here with the expectation of dating, but I'm certainly not against the idea. I have been hanging out in a bar in district 1 most of the time. It's close to the house and a nice place. As with many bars around here, it caters to a mainly ex-pat crowd. And, as with many bars here it is staffed with very cute girls. There is one girl in particular who seems to make a point of ignoring the rest of the clientele when I'm there and talks to me most of the night. Now, I'm a little skeptical of this situation. Not to be insulting to anyone, but I am quite well traveled and I have been many places where the women feign a serious interest in you under the orders of the bar owner to drum up business. It doesn't seem like that sort of place, it's pretty much all regulars, who are long term working ex-pats. But, I don't know Vietnam very well yet. Her interest seems genuine, and even if it is, I don't know if it would be proper to ask her on a date. We're about the same age, (mid 20s), so I'm not a delusional 50 year old looking for a girl far too young. Some help would be appreciated here. Maybe some etiquette advice and some idea if the "flirting is part of the job" mentality is prevalent here.

well.. dating in vietnam now is not differ than dating in united states... but seriously when you go into a bar... and meet a girl there USUALLY the girls can be not good girls( sluts) trying to say in a nice way but wat the heck...i know that i shouldnt saying bad stuff about the vietnamese girls over there eventhough im vietnamese and 20 year old... but yeah you can flirt.. usually at bar that is one of the main job of the girls is to flirt and then you know what comes after flirting.. if you are american they will come after you more and if you are rich then forget it... you gonna belong to them pretty soon.. if you are going to be in vietnam for working i will guarantee to you that you will find others girls in vietnam when you are working... dont go and hang out with the girls at the bar they will only get you in trouble....dating over there has change you can kiss now.. in public, hold hands and have sex all over the place if you can.. back then you cant even date, or kiss or even hold hands.. if you down to many of the park at nite you can find couple sitting in car kissing each other or dancing.. so i guess what im trying to say here is... yes dating is ok, BUT be careful they can mess you right up... especically if you just there for work.. Good luck finding the RIGHT girl for you.

Most of the bars don't open 'till evening so next time you see her in the bar ask her if she will have lunch with you tomorrow.
And yes flirting is part if the job but her interest in you may be genuine.
But be careful and cool. I've spent many years in Asia and numerous times have heard the words "darling I love you, marry me and get me out of here".

You are entering a mine field and you will have to be very careful.

Generally speaking "nice" girls do not work in bars. Generally speaking nice girls do not date in the American sense. If you do start seeing a girl it will be her expectation that things move very quickly towards meeting the parents and marriage. There are exceptions, but they are rare. Things are not so free and easy here. take your time and speak to some people. It is very difficult to distinguish between genuine attachment and a meal ticket and to be honest the majority will view you as the latter.

Do some research about Vietnamese culture first. Their customs on dating are very different from the west and some things that you may see as sweet is offensive.
