How do I pronounce "nuoc cham"?

How do I pronounce "nuoc cham", the vietnamese dipping sauce? For instance, is it "nook" (rhymes with "book") or is it "nuke" (as in
"nuke it in the microwave"?) Or another way; do I pronounce the "o"? And I think the "cham" part... "cham", as rhyming with the name "Tom", am I right? Anyway, please be specific as to get the pronunciation across, or give me a word that it rhymes with. Thanks! :)

I just asked my Vietnames friend and he said it is pronounced nuoc (like Look) cham (like Tom). So it would be like "Nook chom"

Novice
It is difficult to find English words that rhyme with "nuoc", but here is my best effort: a combination of "earn" and "earth".

"cham" is actually "cha^'m", with the ' there indicating that you have to raise your pitch of the word. The vietnamese language has ', `, ., ?, and ~, changing the pitch of each word.

"cham" seems to rhyme best with "champ".

Good luck!

i'm pretty sure it's nook cham (am like um)

Randyguide
original in Vietnamese is nước chấm [nước chấm] and you can pronounce similar like "nook tram"

calib_forever
Nước chấm
There is no equivalent English sound for ước. "Nook" doesn't even come close. You must listen to a Viet pronouncing that word for you. Chấm is "chum" and your voice must go up. Note one thing. ch sounds a bit different in Vietnamese from English.

It is pronounced nuoc cham.
Hope this helps.
