I know about Vn from my many travels there. My first trip, a Vn friend took me to his home town as a way of thanking me for helping him get started in his business. I had a very good time and met his family and many friends. It is now almost ten years later and my friend is now my uncle. His niece and I married last year and we are expecting a son this summer.
I will "retire" to Vn in a couple of years and plan to start a business as well as continue farming the land we have bought over the years my wife and I dated.
I have many Vn friends here in America. There is a large population of immigrants and first generation Vn living in my area. One funny coincidence is that the dry cleaning shop near my house was bought by Vn immigrants and it turned out they came from within 20 km of my wife's birthplace and our home in Vn. Although I haven't taken a trip back with my new friend, I have met his family back home and we have become friends.

I am a Vietnamese and I think Vietnam is a very pretty place to live or to take a break. Vietnamese people are very friendly and warm. But you also need to watch out for conmen. They are everywhere in the world and Vietnam is no exception. It is best if you have a Vietnamese guide and translator. However, Vietnamese people can speak English pretty well too (i mean in the cities).
