Cám ơn= thanks in general
If you add to the end of the phrase:
lắm=very much
ông=to a man
bà =to a woman in general, especially married
cô=to a young woman
em=to a youth if young enough to be your younger sibling
cháu or con=child if young enough to be your child
cụ or bác=to an elder
In general, saying "Cám ơn lắm" is sufficient.
