It's really easy to get a Vietnam visa in Bangkok, it does take four working days to get the visa, so don't apply late in the week as it will take a couple of days longer because of the weekend. You can, for more money of course, get an expedited visa which takes one day to process, apply in the morning and pick it up the next day. I live in Bangkok and have received both the four day and the one day expedited visa, just be sure sure to have the necessary photos and you can download the application from the Vietnam Embassy website, each time I applied and received the visas, I probably didn't spend more than 10 minutes at the embassy, a very simple and easy process. Visas on arrival in Vietnam must be arranged through an approved travel agent and is a lot more trouble than dealing with the embassy yourself. Have fun. |

if you are in the usa and you send your passport to the vn consulete you can get it back in about 6 weeks.. that said if you are persistent and send them an overnight return envelope you can have it back in 1 week.. you can also get one at the airport upon arrival in 20 min... extentions to visas can be obtained from 2hrs to 4 days.....been there done that |

4 days sounds about right for a Vietnam visa through their BKK consulate. Maybe even faster if you pay a premium or apply thought a travel agent.
Not sure if you can just get one cold at your Vietnam point of entry. Thought I believe it can be set up in advance through a Vietnamese travel agent.
Always remembering the date thing on your visa is set in stone. Arrive before the your visa date and your out out of luck, late and your visa length is cut by how ever late you are. |
