As a tourist or visitor to Vietnam, you can carry out as many dollars as you can prove you brought in. For instance, if you brought 1 million dollars into the country and declared it, you would be entitled to take 1 million out with you.
I really haven't studied the business laws (yet), but if you own a business, you are allowed to remove a certain percentage of the profits.
If you are Vietnamese, I believe that you have to declare anything over $3000 although ld may be correct with the higher amount. You can bring more money than that out of the country but you need to declare it and answer questions about why you are doing it. |

I believe it's 10k USD CASH that you have to report. But, I know people who carry 50K USD CASH that they didnt report. Once you're one the airplane or at the airport, they'll hand out a slip for you to fill out. They'll ask you how much money you have on you and etc... If you want to carry more than 10K USD then it's up to you and you dont have to fill it in the slip. Nobody is going to check your carry on bag to see how much money you have on you. |

If I remember right, you are required to declare more than US$7k when you enter VN. I don't remember what the quantity of gold / precious medals / jewelry, etc. was. So the amount you can take out probably is the same - but I am guessing. |

when you travel in the US, you have to declare when you have over 10,000 dollars in cash, if you don't declare it, it's subject to seizure. |
