Pricing also depends on where you shop. Ly Nam De street in Hanoi is a good place to look, but there are electronics shops "everywhere".
Proficiency at bargaining is a useful skill. As is patience and a willingness to talk to a lot of shop keepers. |

It might be surprising for you to know that electronics are more expensive but the quality is lower than comparable products found in the U.S.
Most manufacturers have different quality levels for products being sold in the U.S. and in other countries. The poor quality items are usually dumped in the Asian markets (except Japan) at reduced prices. What baffles me is prices for electronic products in Vietnam are generally higher than the U.S. This is so prevalent that I have a lucrative side business with my brother-in-law selling used laptops from the U.S. to Vietnamese in Vietnam.
You’re going to the wrong country if you’re looking for deals in electronics. Try Hong Kong instead. |
