There is plenty of food you can eat in vietnam that does not have fish. If I were you (Well I dont know where you live right now) But I would go to a Vietnamese restaurant around where you live and try out the different food. You can usually look up menus online that will tell you what is in that type of food. If you are really afraid of fish then bring a native speaker with you. They can tell the waiter that you dont want any kind of fish

YES you will have no problems , you can get pizza and kfc chinnese and indian food all most anywhere

The point made above regarding fish sauce is to be strongly re-emphasized. Much of the cooking is done with it, and you get a little saucer of it on your table to dip in further. Ask for soy sauce (xi dau; pronounced see yow).

I advise you to make a little hand card with this notation:

TOI BI DI UNG HAI SAN (I AM ALLERGIC TO SEAFOOD), and show it to every wait-person. Get someone at your first hotel to finish off the phrase with the proper "diacritical marks", just to avoid any confusion, though most anyone will understand the phrase as is.

Too bad about your allergy. The full range of Vietnamese cookery is wonderful. Make sure to try the Pho (beef noodle soup); it's become a world-wide eating fad, like Colonel Kentucky.

Yes U can... Vietnam is not just fish are sold... U still can find food with vegetable and meat like beef, pork chicken duck as well

Stick with rice, duck, chicken, dog and cooked vegetables. Avoid most sauces, as they will possibly have fish in them, especially Nuoc Mam sauce, which is essentially fish and salt.

I am also the one who is not into FISH! I will NEVER EVER call any dish with fish when I eat out, just when I eat the one cooked by my mom. ( Cuz I''m sure that there will be no bone if it is cooked by her). So don't worry, you can always order PORK, BEEF, MUTTON in Vietnam.

Here is a tip for you: if unfortunately, a Vietnamese restaurant doesn't have an English version menu (but most have nowadays), just look in the menu, and avoid ordering anything that starts with CÃ ( which is FISH in English) and SÃ’ ( which means shellfish). Quite easy to remember, aren''t they?

@Rabiu 1: OHHHHH! where is it that they have SPECIAL BREED OF DOG raised to be eaten? I''ve never heard of that! I''ve never eaten dog meat before tho I've been living here for 20years.

Trust me. You'll have no trouble finding stuff to eat. Lots of Pork ,very little beef though. Also there is dog..I know what you're thinking "Dog" But in reality they're raised as a special breed to be eaten. Just like cattle. Vegetables galore. How do I know such things. 4 trips to Haiphong anf Hanoi in 2 years. Watch out for water though. Also don't suck on the ice cubes because they do not boil the water they make them with. Lesson learned the hard way. I fell in love with Vietnam and the food and the people.

don't worry , I hate fish too , and I also don't eat beef, you can eat poultry or pork meat instead , do not eat dog but you can try if you want , lol
