I am going to Hanoi Vietnam for 7 days. Is there any significant US military sights I should see near Hanoi?

I am looking in the Hanoi area and I am interested in taking a few days to go to Danang. I figure with time constraints that is far as I should go down. I am really interested in seeing the US military places of history though. Please only answer if you HAVE BEEN THERE.

Hanoi is in the North Vietnam so there are not many U.S Military sites there. The best place to go is the Hanoi Hilton or Hoa Lo Prison where John McCain and other POW's were imprisoned and Ho Tay or the West Lake where John McCain was crashed, the wreckage is still on the bank of that lake. You can also visit the B52 museum. If you wanna visit more the U.S Military sites near Danang, DMZ or Vinh Moc Tunnel are good choices.

Happy traveling!

Definitely go see the Hanoi Hilton. That's where John McCain and several other POW's were held. There is also a B52 that crashed in a lake. Not sure of the location but the wreckage is still there. There is also a "monument" where John McCain crashed. Don't really think there are any U.S. Military sights in Hanoi as its in the north. But if you are interested in military sites in general there is a really good Vietnam Military History Museum in Hanoi. Hope this helps.

There are numerous museums that document the American War. Definately interesting - but you won't see any US military sites, since the DMZ was a long, long distance to the south. The US bases were south of the DMZ.
