"I will go to the police if you don't give me my money back",
*Tôi sẽ Ä‘i thưa công an nếu ___(cô=miss, bà =mrs., ông=mr.) không trả tiá»n lại cho tôi.
"I will go to the police if you don't co-operate",
*Tôi sẽ đi thưa công an nếu ___(cô=miss, bà =mrs., ông=mr.) không chịu hợp tác.
"Back off!",
*Tránh ra!! (more like clear away), Cút đi! (more like get lost), lui ra! (back off/away)
"I know what you are trying to do",
* Tôi biết ___(cô=miss, bà =mrs., ông=mr.) định là m gì.
"The price is way too high!",
*Giá hà ng mắc quá! or bán mắc quá!

*Äiá»u đó hÆ¡i xúc phạm.
"Where is the police station?",
*Trạm công an ở đâu?
"I've been robbed",
*Tôi đã bị cướp.
"Someone is trying to scam me".
*Có ngưá»i Ä‘ang đánh lừa tôi
You can try here, http://vdict.com/index.php, for some simple words, but make sure to have some check them to see if they make sense. Just use the dictionary. The translation there is just funny :) Good luck (chúc may mắn) |

I just returned from living in Viet Nam for 4 years. Of your list of (ahem!) "useful" phrases, the only one I ever used or had need for was O'i! Rat dat!!! (And the pronunciation isn't even close to what it looks like!) |

This is all very well, but insulting in its own right. You are going to have to understand that bartering and arguing price in Vietnam is like a national sport. For that matter it is in most of Asia. Its not just the tourists that have to go through this process but the locals as well.
the rule of thumb is that the Viets are going to try to charge you at least 3 times the value of the product. NEVER pay more than half of the first quoted price. And don't let the money out of your hand until you are sure that your product is in good condition and not flawed. I will work on getting some translations for you but other than the "back off" most of these translations should be left in your book and not used on the street. they are sure to inspire contempt from the locals and generally earn you disrespect.
Remember the quiet voice is the voice that is respected here. and the cops are not going to be pleased if you bring every little argument about price to their attention. |

Look at your sentences, I laughed :)) Because Vietnam is pretty safe in general. Secondly, if you got the sentences, it's still hard for you to pronoun those correctly. |
