I’m going to Vietnam and wondered if I could have some advice? |
I’m going to Vietnam for two weeks and I was wondering if someone could give me a little advice. As we all know Vietnam is really humid and I’m from California where we’re lucky if it rains more then a week. And I am a High maintenance type of person and I’m not going to be able to blow dry or straighten my hair would it be a good idea to permanently straighten my hair??? Or is not worth it??
I have straight/curly hair |

Why can't you blow dry your hair over here?
Guess what?
We HAVE blow driers...and top of the line hair salons.
We also have indoor plumbing, electricity, hi-rises, Bercedes Benz', Bentleys, and even a Lamborghini running around.
Listen, its not grass huts.
Don;t worry about your hair. You can always go to one of the better salons for a nice one-hour head massage and conditioning treatment.
Salons in Vietnam BLOW AWAY anything in the West.
Trust me!
Enjoy your stay with us. |

Don't worry about your hair. 99% of Vietnamese have straight hair so they tend to find curly hair attractive. If worse comes to worse, you can always buy a 220 Volt blow dryer over here for about $15.
My advice would be to get as much sleep as possible to try to acclimate yourself to the time difference. Since you are only going to stay for a short time, you don't want jet-lag to ruin your first few days here. Ask your doctor for a sleeping pill for the flight and when you arrive in Seoul or Hong Kong or wherever for your connecting flight, use the traveler's shower at the airport. That way, you'll arrive in Vn feeling refreshed.
Enjoy your trip! |

Actually it hardly rains in Vietnam in the dry season (from December to April). In winter the northern and highland parts of Vietnam is really cold, and you have to wear coats.
There's no matter with your hair, don't worry. If it is too hot you can wear a hat. |

I'm not sure about what to do with your hair. But at this time of the year, northern VN is much more humid than usual (which is already very humid). I'm just saying this in case you plan to go any time soon :). But if you're going next month or later, I think it will be back to normal (I mean the humidity :D). |

Are you serious ? The top stylists and manicurists in California are predominately Vietnamese ,"Izzy Cool" is spot on ! |

Explore the countryside of Vietnam. See the life of ordinary Vietnamese. That makes your travel more memorable. Also, don't forget to visit the war memorials. To complete your trip, indulge yourself the beauty of Halong Bay. More images of Vietnam at http://vietnam.mygreatworld.com/ |

Actually, just leave your hair like that because then you'll look 'unique' out of everybody. (kind-of)
You might think that VN is a really hot and humid place, but if you go touring or something do bring a light jacket. Do not underestimate the weather. Bring the things that you are most comfortable with, like if you don't mind using another brand of something that you can buy, than leave that behind. (packing rooms, etc.) Like your personal items (ex. pads), if you use a specific brand that you love, bring like a pack or something. (Don't over pack though.) Don't worry about food, the decent markets there should have the food you like, or you can try new things! (ex. they have gold fish)
Try not to wear expensive things there, well because of the security and all. Like wear something casual, unless you know that you are attending a wedding or something like that.
Try to pack more clothes that you can wear with everything (mix&match) because then you wouldn't have problems with what to wear. Do bring some 'nice' tennis shoes if you are going to explore on foot. Backpack. Bring your own deodorant.
Have fun, and if you want to know more just e-mail me, I can be your ultimate 'customer service' for Vietnam if I can. (I'll try my best to give you all the tips I know.) |
