make sure he das a nice camera to carry in his pocket. i dont use one ,but many people get a lot of satifaction by carrying a copy of "lonley planet" guide book. other than that ..he woont need much... sandels and comfortable neet clothing... and you can get all that and more there. give him a little photo album with photos of his friends & family and their addresses so he can mail everyone post cards.
make sure he takes "imodium , dramimine, and cold meds a with him , antibiotics if he can get them... just nice to have in case

Make him up a liitle medical box,cure for a hangover etc,you can buy stuff here but its not to good,also if you would bothe find it funny maybe some condoms.

In Vietnam he can get for himself everything. So just wish him a good journey. That's enough. Why don't you come along. I think it's a nice "present" for your dad.

my suggestion is CASH. It's the most practical thing to give them & 9.9 out of 10 times it's what they preferred too so they can buy or do whatever they want with it. Especially when he's back in Vietnam he will probably wants to give cash to the relatives too.
