I want to become a flight attendant for vietnam airlines but the problems is that?

i am an australian citizen. i would have to become permanent resident of vn to work for vn airlines. if i apply for citizenship of vn, would i have to live there for 6 months to become a resident or i can i just apply for the citizenship and thats it? are there any affects if do apply for one?
Additional Details
ok ok, i have already called vn airlines and all the other asian airlines but they all said that i have to be a permanent resident to work for their country blah blah blah. the reason i want to work for vn airlines is because i can speak the language better than jap or korean etc...im aiming to work or asian airlines is because i am really short and i on't get any taller than i already am. most girls stop growing at this age anyway. a travel agent advised me to go for the asian airlines because she's seen the workers that were around my height.

Hey, didn't I talk to you to your email???? There are so MANY diff. AIRLINES.. Y on earth did you have to pick VNair???? I don't understand... CONFUSEDDDDDD actually.
First of all, you don't have to apply for VN citizen to work for VNair. You can get a work permit.
2nd, you DEFINATELY can apply for VN citizen.. if that's WHAT you REALLY REALLY want.
BTW, how much do you EXPECT them to pay you for be their flight attendent???? I'm serious!!!!!!... They asked me if I wanna reside to VN and work there.. First question I asked them was: How much do you pay me? It was kind of a joke but I was serious. Comon, do you think they could pay me as much as I work here?
One last thing, honey... CONECTION, CONECTION AND CONECTION.. That's how the world goes on... Best thing to do is pick up the phone and call the airline. They will let you know more details on how to become their flight attendents.
Best wishes to you..

.... Oh about the PILOTS... Most international airlines hire other countries' pilots. WORK PERMIT n THE SALARY.. that's ALL..
Best try w/ Korean Air, Eva, Japan, Thai Airlines b/c they also fly to VN .. They need agent that speak the language.

hey girl, i hear you on wanting to be a flight attendant, my aunt was one for 25 years with air canada. i now live in vietnam with my man and we fly Vietnam Airlines all the time. We've noticed they have many aussie pilots. They must have got a work permit to do this somehow and its not as easy as marrying a Vietnamese woman. We know several aussies who are married to Vietnamese and they don't have any more residential or citizenship rights then we do as foreign nationals on a 6 month business visa. I would track down some pilots and ask if they know of any working for Vietnam Airlines and see how they accomplished it ;) I'm no one to tell someone something's impossible, I don't believe in it, but I must say that many many qualified, beautiful, educated and ambitious Vietnamese men and women want the job you are going for, it's hard to prove you are more qualified as a foreigner. Good luck!

flight attendants don't make that much nowaday

Well, where do I start ?
First of all, I don't think they would pay as much as you would hope for.
Second, who said that your height has anything to do with your ability to perform a job as a stewardess ?
Third, why would you want to apply for Vietnam citizenship just for this job ? Come on ! Are you serious ? Many people in Vietnam risked their lives escaping from communistic Vietnam seeking for freedom, going through a lot of hardship hoping to call Australia home. You're blessed to have been an Australian citizen. No job is worth trading your national citizenship for, especially one in Vietnam.
I believe that you can apply for a job with Vietnam Airlines without having to be a Vietnamese citizen. After all, a number of Vietnam Airlines pilots are non-Vietnamese. Sadly, in Vietnam, to many Vietnamese, there's no such a thing as an "equal opportunity employment". Therefore, having "connections" is a "must" despite the job applicant possesses all the qualifications required.
Finally, I believe that if you aim high enough, dream big enough, with enough self-confidence, you can do anything at all. But first, invest in your education. With an education of a related field required to work in an airline company, I hope you would consider applying for a job with Australian Airlines or Qantas. Who know ? You may be surprised of how easy it is of the possibilites in your beloved homeland Australia comparing to one in Vietnam.
In any case, best of luck on whatever you're striving for in life.

... who was it that said , "a flight attendant is just a glorified waistress in a bad resturant at 30,000 ft " ?? LOL! get a job w/ aussie air... anyway i dont think you can become a vn citizen[???]
