... for a change "john charles " i couldn't agree w/ you more... especially about the dress codes.. it took me years to finally get my wife to wear " ao ba ba" , that's the pajama style outfits the older vietnamese woman wear... not only are they more fitting to local custom but they're much more comfortable... now i cant stop my wife from buying[ custom made] them .. she even wears them at home....lol.. oh and just for the record ,my wife hardly ever drinks and is always "all class"... from my experience the vietnameses men like western woman .. the fatter the better[ true]... there i go again, giving away secretes.. now viet nam is going to be flooded with fat western women trying to trap a skinny viet farmer lol.sorry........
,,,addition: since everyone id telling "true stories" her's mine. i once met a young Viet woman who was hosting a traditional music show.. she was all grace and class decked out in her long white ao dai. in exchange for some tips on english i gave her she and her equally classy girl friends took me to the countryside on a pic nic.. there i saw these same gracefull young ladies RUN barefoot, laughing ,through the jungle as i "limped"&" wimpered " behind.. truly a dichotomy , strong willed independent &determined[ as bore out in story] yet gracefull and classy as anyone who has met a viet woman will know....

I wish the western men would stay out of Japan...
They almost always ugly losers that can't seem to do as well back home so they come to Asia to get a pretty decent looking or even beautiful woman who will admire his western ways no matter what loser he is (and on a number of occasions, no matter how incredibly ugly he is). The cute little Japanese women see them only as foreigner, which makes them "cool" regardless. Nevertheless, they're louder, more inconsiderate and often down right rude compared to Japanese men (you for example). On a number of occasions they're skin is rougher, they're heavier, hairier and not nearly as fashion savy as Japanese men are. And they drink more too! (though that's just a question of physique, haha). They're not nearly as good at sensing when something is troubling a women as Japanese men and overall the much bigger pigs!

However I'm exaggerating a bit and completely over generalizing... just as you are about Western women in Vietnam.

Good thing we don't live near each other because we'd surely hate each other. But I will be coming to pay a visit to Vietnam and there's no stopping me. Guess what, Vietnam isn't your own little private bubble... your escape from facing the rest of the "real world."

I can't stop the hordes of goofy western men coming to Japan anymore than you can stop the pushy, chubby, rude American women (of which I am not, or else yes... I'd probably never be with my Asian boyfriend... you're right, it's not always very becoming of them..... though you are way over generalizing, and being rather rude in the process). I'm sorry you're bitter about whatever has happened to you, clearly you tangoed with a few too many of the wrong women... but stop being so rude for no good reason at all!

you're looking at women ON VACATION...they weary travelers living out of a bag... surely men travelers dress just as poorly, why? because they're traveling... what do you expect

this is a nonsense topic but deserved an answer that's full of sense. i'd like to argue with what you said that Vietnamese women are so feminine and not a drinker??? when this happen do you think?? let me tell you this straight partner, Vietnamese Women are a good drinker of beer and they can even twist a big barrel when they drink.

those feminine actions you were talking were just a garbage grace they are doing infront of whites and some foreigners in order to attract them because of dollars. Vietnamese women are money face and that's the mere fact. they go with foreigners for money only and not because of love, but the intentions is clear.............FOR MONEY ONLY. they are not patient either because i have seen a lot of Vietnamese women who are acting like modest, real lady but they are living with full of lies. they have dirty mouth and needed to brush teeth more often in order not to speak so much lies.

wanna hear a real story that i have witness partner???? when i was in "seventeen saloons", there are lots of foreigners there such as whites, Filipino's, Koreans, Indians, Italians and many more nationality. there are two Vietnamese women who I think were in their late 30's dancing so wild and trying to get the attentions of whites. you know what they are??? they are the woman working at night. i cannot elaborate clearly what happened then because it was so awful and too bad and if you were in there, i am sure you will gonna give these two Vietnamese ladies a good slap. do you think Vietnamese woman are so perfect??? you are wrong. so many prostitutes here, and you have to know them. they dress so elegant, act so feminie, act so gracefully but a good drinker and smoker and they are what we called "the woman of the night".

why don't you try to visit some place in District 1. my local friend showed this place to us where we can get a Vietnamese lady for only 20,000 VND IN ONE SHOOT! do you know what shoot mean partner??? one sex for a price of 20,000 VND. and do you know how they look like? they look so feminine, so elegant, graceful but like a **** and garbage inside.

i think those western women were just being natural on what they are. don't bother to think on how they act or what they wore! that's none of your damn business!!!!

so you say that Vietnamese women are so feminine, graceful, non drinker and non smoker???? why don't you try to take a visit to every park in Vietnam and you can see those Vietnamese women even doing sex in the park. i witness a lot of that situation and even your police doesn't want to bother to stop them doing immoral things in the park. those actions that should be done only inside the room, but why they are doing it in the park???

tell me what kind of being feminine, graceful you are talking??? you know the fact that Vietnamese ladies are a good drinker of beer because in every party in Vietnam where some of my friends invited me, I see all Vietnamese women guest drinking beer and they enjoy drinking beer so much.

Usually, people can see a coin has two sides.
As for Vietnamese women in America, they fit in because Americans are a mixture of cultures. Since I am an American, I really don't notice the way European type women dress, since it is the normal; they are just being Americans.
I was in Vietnam during the 1968 Tet Offensive and can say there was very little elegance and femininity. The European type women were the US Army nurses, saving the lives of American soldiers. They were the same nurses who saved the lives of many Vietnamese girls, who were able to be one of the feminine Vietnamese women you speak of.
Vietnamese men usually don't date western women because of a physical thing, or at least a myth. But the fact is, there are many Vietnamese men who married European style women (Americans).
I visited a Buddhist monastery in Anloc, Vietnam, because I saved the life of a little three year old girl who fell into a rice paddy. There was no dress code for me to enter the rice paddy or the monastery. I received an invitation to enter monastery. Four monks were near when I breathed life into that little angel. Oh, I am sure she became a feminine woman also.
I resent your statements; you are actually bashing Americans. Oh, if you really get down to brass tacks, the economic upsurge in Vietnam is due to American dollars. Even before relations between Vietnam and America improved, money was being funneled into Vietnam. During the years, there was never a stop for the feminine Vietnamese ladies who wanted to go to America to be near those European women who wear tank tops, drink beer, and smoke. Most of those tank top women pay the taxes that help spawn the trade that benefits all Vietnamese.
Shame on you!!!
