take the plane, take the plane, take the plane... time is far more presious than the $120us & you'll be there in 1-2 hrs. if you take ground transportation your talking 2 days minimum. |

If your thinking of getting the from HCMC to Angkor, there isn't one! Trains run from Hanoi to HCMC and then finish.
To get to Angkor from HCMC - bus would be the cheapest option. Im not sure of prices, maybe someone else knows?
But you would bus from HCMC to Phnom Penh and then up to Siem Reap (Angkor Wat).
The other alternative is to fly, but that's over a 100USD one way plus transfers!
Cambodian visa's can be had at the border for around 25USD. You need 2 passport photos!
Have fun! |

vietnam, and generally this part of asia is pretty good with its train services. they are cheap and fairly comfortable depending on what ticket you get. most go virtually anywhere by means of the main cities and you can book a bunk in order to sleep. if i were you it would be what i would do. |

I agree with Ong Jon. Take the plane. Cambodia is a hell of a lot less developed than Thailand and public transport is nowhere near Thai standard. The roads are unsealed, the buses un-airconditioned and the travel times approximate at best. It's still a great place - don't get me wrong!
Once you get to Siem Reap go to a restaurant called the Soup Dragon and order the bo bak(?) - it's fantastic!
Bon Voyage! |

Have got the direct standard buses from HCMC to Siem Reap. It is about 8h. Once you are in HCMC, go to Ben Thanh Market. The bus station is just opposite this market. |
