OK, first of all TAXI. Only MyVinh taxi you could trust. The meter was correct. I tried different taxi but end up paying triple as usual. There were other good taxi but sorry, forgot.

People I find very nice and helpful, specially the south people. Hanoi (North) are not as nice as the south.
Don't trust the movies too much. The road are decent. Freeway were really nice. the problem is when you are in big cities, the traffic was crowded. Sometimes you have to watch the bikes, they are coming from every direction. But I was staying at lovely town of Vung Tau, so I never had problem.
If you stayed in a hotel, better booked it online. The price is vary if you go straight to them. And if you find other nice hotel just moved.
The food at the airport was too expensive. And if I'm not mistaken they were charge with US$.
Generally, I loved their food. And their coffe was extraordinary, it was cape seu da (Kah Pay - Sew -Dah).

I just left VN after being there for 4 wonderful years! The people are very friendly, there is lots to see and do. Be friendly and you will probably have a wonderful time.

Try doing a search and see what other people have posted on VN - and view the negative postings with a lot of skepticism.

I travel to Vn at least once a year and I can tell you that this last trip was expensive. Inflation was about 40% last year so Everything increased in price.
I own my own house and didn't do any "tourist" things but still managed to spend about two hundred dollars a week. It probably doesn't sound like much money, but last year we lived very well for half of that. As I D posted, the people are very friendly and If I could sell my house in America, I'd move to Vietnam tommorrow.

Everything should be fine. Things are basically cheap to buy. I'm Vietnamese and I lived here from the time I was born. Even though I've gone abroad for several years but I still want to go back finally. People are friendly. There are only 2 things I don't like:
- The weather is not quite nice sometimes, humidity this time for example.
- Traffic: traffic jam and be careful when you cross the streets :)
