The Vietnamese were basically forced to side with the communist after the Japanese war. Ho Chi Minh was a major intelligence asset to the Americans during the war and was promised autonomy after the war. The Americans went back on their promise and gave the french their heads again. The only country's that would supply the Viets with weapons were communist block country's so they aligned with the people who could solve their military supply problems.
The Americans shear panic at the word "communism" during the early stages of the cold war, and the Vietnamese control of Manganese production, necessitated the use of armed force.
Of course once the Vietnamese took up the communist banner they became great promoters of the ideology.
The war was just business as usual by the colonial powers, except that for the first time the south east Asian governments had access to Artillery and modern weapons supplied by the Communist block.

The war between the North and the South was actually one of US's political games. If US didn't care about that, VN could live in peace. I hate US with all political games it did to the other countries.

Yes, that time Chinese and Soviet Union tried to spread Communist around the World. In order to fight with US and South Vietnam army, North Vietnamese leaders had to borrow money from Chinese or Soviet Union to buy weapon and supplies for the war. After the war was over, Vietnam has to pay its debts by selling its land to Chinese. TruongSa and HoangSa are two island where Chinese took over for the debt (this is may not in your question). But you know the true, communist will die out soon.

YES. If the US hadn't helped the South, the war would still happened but different. It was not true that the communist was the only one who helped fight against the French. They just counted it as their own work because they won the civil war in 1975. During the war with the French, the whole country fought for our freedom, but later, we didn't want to be communist while the communist wanted to be in charge, so the civil war happened. Hope the communist will die soon so that the Vietnamese can have a true freedom.
