Is Da Nang a great city to relocate?

Helping a friend looking to relocate to Vietnam. He's looking into Da Nang, but all the boards seem to point to HCMC or Hanoi.

Does anyone have any info about expat living in Da Nang? How's the weather, cost of living, but most importantly, do they have good international schools? And good broadband internet?

"ong john" has it pretty much right i would say Danang is the least westernized of the major Cities . I only spent a few night's there and i never found any area that i would call cosmopolitan . There is not a lot to do during the day at all and you would be attracted more to nearby Hoi An . It is difficult anywhere in Vietnam to find a niche for your skill's(that pays adequately) and you certainly would find it difficult if not impossible in Danang. I never heard of any international schooling as such but you have no problem's with the broadband , you mentioning schooling must mean kid's involved ? if yes i think it would be too much of a challenge .
To re-locate is not easy in Vietnam if you are going to have to rely on the income you generate whilst living there . So being somewhere that you have an ex-pat community helps a lot , so i think Saigon , Hanoi , Nha Trang are the places which would have a lot more going for you.

da nang does not have much if anything going on for expats.. its a decent city has a growing upscale tourist area bt thats RIGHT on the beach and does not extend ar all into the city.. nearby hoi an has quaint chinese and japanese architecture and history but it is bustling with tourist..sai gon ha noi, nha trang, seem to be where most expats gravitate, find companionship and often work... if your friend wants seclusion from the western world .. then da nang would be ok .. but if he was just looking for a more laid back life with continued contact to the outside ,, the sai gon , ha noi, or nha trang .. but more importantly it sounds like your friend has never been to vn.. in that case he should go as a tourist travel all over and se if he likes it at all.

Depends on what is his demand. for job? Sai Gon is the best. Many expats living there. no international schools, just a few international kindergartens. good broadband internet. the temperatures ranges from 16 to 34oC.

I was born here, but i went to vietnam last year.
Da nang gets REALLY cold at some times..and REALLY hot at other times. I didnt go to school there, so i don tknow about that.
but, i think i better city would be vung tau or dalat. Those are my 2 favorite cities :]
