Is Vietnam Still Communist Country today?

Yup.

The Socialist Republic of Vietnam is still governed by the Communist Party. However, you need to understand a little more than what people back home tell you.

First of all, when you hear the word "Communist" you think Soviet Union, gulags, Red China, Castro etc., but Vietnam isn't really like that.

Ok, yes, the Communist party governs the country, but its not like China which has a very oppressive system and enjoys taking people away for "re-education" which is a nice way of saying "prison work camp".

In reality, Vietnam is more Socialist than anything else. They really don;t throw politics in your face, nor make you feel like you have to look over your shoulder in fear.

The government encourages making money and becoming wealthy, as long as you do it legally. Same as anywhere else.

After 17 years here, I can swear on a Bible that I have never been harrassed, nor been made to feel unwelcome by anyone from the top government people down to the poorest cyclo driver because I am American.

I recommend that you come here for a visit. You won't regret it and you'll go back with a different opinion than when you arrived.

Yes, it is still govern by the communist party although it is not quite as oppressive as most people think whenever they think about communism. However, do take precaution. Yes, the government will do things to you if it looks like you disagree with them or their system. They will be less open about it but it still happens to be sure.

kpopandpiano
it's a communist government, but not as strong as north korea or even china.

Freakonomics
Ohh yes it is...you can see it everywhere.
