Of course, it is safe for anyone who visiting Vietnam. Vietnamese people are the most forgiving people in the world. We don't hate the French, Japanese, Chinese or Americans. If you treat us with kindness you'll have the same respect in returns.

I hope so, we are planning a trip there in January. They are really promoting the tourism there, pretty funny for a communist country, but they want the American dollar. Who would have thought 30+ years ago that you would go for a vacation there. Gives you hope for other countries such as Iraq, Iran... |

depends what you mean buy "safe".. knowbody holes the passed against us so in that sence its safe .. but it is very unsanitary and i've have never come here and not been taken ill to one degree or another ..its a health risk .. |

Yes, it is. Not even to only the US citizens but for all. But you have to take care your valuable things in the streets as robbery still happens in any places in the world. Have a nice trip if you come to Vietnam. |

I first came to Ha Noi 10 years ago. I traveled for 3 months between Ha Noi and the Chinese border to the north. Stayed in villagers' homes, met with people from all levels, from the household to the Provincial leaders.
I have now been living in Ha Noi for 4 years, traveling between the Ha Noi region south to the former DMZ area and to within 300 km of Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon).
It is the safest place I have ever been - including everywhere in the US - and I have been to a lot of places! |
