Is it easy to cross from Laos into Vietnam via the Muang Kwa / Dien Bien Phu crossing? Is there transport to Dien Bien Phu once you cross the border? I have heard there's no easy transport so you can get stuck?
all transportation in lao is difficult except planes... i did not know you could cross at dien bien phu.. but i would be interested in doing that...

I haven't heard any bus companies that have routes across the Äiện Biên Phủ Border Gate. As far as I know, Äiện Biên is a mountainous province which is very far from Hà Ná»™i and other places in the north of Vietnam. To go there you have to cross many high passes by bus. That's why most people go to Äiện Biên and Äiện Biên Phủ city by airplane if possible.
Furthermore, all buses from Hà Nội to Vientiane and vice versa take another border crossing, at Nghệ An or Thanh Hóa provinces.
