Is it okay to wear a bikini when swimming in Vietnam? What else should I know?
I'm an American about to travel abroad. I absolutely do not want to offend the Vietnamese in anyway. Are there any other customs I should be aware of when traveling over there concerning behavior, dress, etc.
no one can swim if they don't wear the bikini. Don't worry about that. when you walk on the street so you shouldn't wear the bikini but you can wear a short skirt and a very thin shirt or whatever you like.

I have never seen a Vietnamese woman wear a bikini. They generally avoid the sun if they can. If you wear a bikini you will attract attention. If you want to blend in, wear a one piece (or go swimming in your clothes like my wife does lol)
Whatever you decide, you will not offend anybody. Vietnam is pretty laid back.

Yeah, it's ok to wear a bikini when swimming! Just don't wear it when you walk on the street! There's no strict rules of dressing in VN. Just the same as other countries, it can be as exposed as you like.

I've been to Vietnam before and yes you can wear a bikini, but don't wear those really thin bikinis.

of course you can wear a bikini when you're swimming.In fact everyone in vietnam wears a bikini when they swim.You can wear anything you want in Vietnam.Its like every country nothing really different about it.
