Is it safe to eat at the food stall in ben thanh market? for a foreigner.?

I'm a foreigner and I eat at Ben Thanh Market all the time. I ate there last night come to think of it. I would go as far as recommending to eat there during the night market (after 6:00 pm). Some of the best food in Vietnam is served there during that time.

If there's anything serious to worry about the food in Vietnam, it would be hepatitis and that's unavoidable here. You will know if you got a hepatitis problem, because you will spend more time on the toilette and less time on the Internet. Assuming that you've been in-country for a couple days, you probably won't get sick no matter what you eat here if you're not sick by now.

Sometimes a belly ache comes along while eating, and a fast cure for that is either Pepsi or Coca Cola. This is my Brother's trick, and it works great when I get the bends from eating too much here in Vietnam.

Happy dining!

Sure - Vietnamese bodies don´t function different than ours.
One thing I learned the hard way, while living there - just trust your normal insticts - if all the food stalls are crowded with Vietnamese and one is empty - DON´T GO THERE!!!
If people line up to get food - stand in line with them - it´s delicious!
Really - Vietnamese eat out a lot at these stalls, or take-away, go to the crowded places, they are always great, cheap AND friendly.
Necer eat Vietnamese food in the hotel restaurants, it´s made for Western taste (or what they think Westerners like), it´s boring, greasy and not Vietnamese at all.
Try the noodle soup, even you hate soup - it´s like pasta and it´s sooooooo nice ......damn, I miss the food. Especially the fresh seafood!

yes. vietnam is safe. everywhere. it is not south america.

KP
OK or not OK. It is hard to say. If your body is immune and get used with different type of foods and waters before, you will be OK. Try don't eat any thing with milk or coconut. It may upset your stomach.

Yes if you had your shots. I been there. The water isn't very good so its better to buy bottle water and the sea food isn't good either. The food tastes good though and if your used to it because you live its OK too. If you had shots your good. You should have a medicine too.
