A friend of mine is going to Vietnam and he carries OC (aka pepper spray) on him it is legal to carry in checked baggage on airlines but is it legal to carry in Vietnam?
I'm not sure if it is legal or not. I do know it is unnecessary. The legal system in Vietnam definitely frowns on crime, especially when it is an assault or similar offense against a tourist. Tell him to leave the mace at home. He won't need it.

I don't know if it's legal or not to carry pepper spray in Vietnam, but I would think he would have a lot of explaining to do should he use it. As Rick M above said, it's unecessary in Vietnam, and he should probably just leave it at home. Vietnam has a very low crime rate, especially muggings and assaults, and unless your friend goes looking for trouble, he won't find any.
