That depends on your definition of safe. There is very little violent crime on tourists, but as with any poor country, there is always the danger of theft and pick pocketing. As long as you take precautions, you should be ok. Make sure you stay in a room with a safe or some secure area to keep valuables, keep your digital camera strap around your neck or arm when taking pictures on the street, and watch out for beautiful girls on motorbikes who want to take you somewhere for a little "fun". |

I travel here unaccompanied all the time and never have any problems. Vietnam has the lowest violent crime rate in Asia,
You don't have to worry here at all.
But use your common sense. Don't leave valuables in your room and be aware. |

yeah.... y you think that vietnam is a scary place or something? millions of american and other people around the world travel over each year.. they havent report anything yet... havent they... you dont see missing poster around right? well hell yeah is a safe place... so go and have fun... my friend who is a white guy goes there all the time and he fine... so you will be fine... |

I can say that Vietnam is the SAFEST place in Asia, or even in the world. Just be careful when you cross the streets ^_^ |

sure if u want to illegally smuggle anything over here all u need is like 10 bucks for the luggage people. I was caught with 20 dvd's but all they want is around 5bucks and they will let u go with the dvd's. |
