depends. Not really.

I''ve seen some Chinese Singaporeans who even have fairer complexion than that of Vietnamese.

Some Laotian also have the kind of complexion which is almost the same as Vietnamese one.

But well, yeah. The Vietnamese complexion is almost fairer than those of Cambodians, Burmeses, Thais, Fillipinos, Indonesians, Malaysians, and some Singaporeans.

No... If U are in bangkok U will noticed that Chinese Thai have fairer skin...

It really depends.

If you go to the big city such as Saigon or Hanoi, you will see lots of light skinned Vietnamese; both men and women. An average Vietnamese wouldnt really be dark, but more of a caramel color. However, this doesnt make the Vietnamese with the most lightest skin is Southeast Asia since many in Singapore have light skin. If you are talking about mainland Southeast Asia, I would say that Vietnam would probably have the second lightest skin since Bangkok, Thailand is a huge city with light skinned people.

Don't listen to those who say all Vietnamese are dark skinned if they have never been to Vietnam.

Yes and no. It depends on which part of the country you are in. In the South, especially down the Mekong Delta, people are much darker than those who live in Saigon, because they have to work in the rice fields, thus exposed to the sun from dust to dawn. But when comparing the number of fair-skinned ladies in the South with the North, you will definitely see that that number exceeds in the latter. There are a few explanations one can come up with: primo, there are 4 definite seasons, and winter can be very harsh. The sun is not year-all-round like in the South, and less intense. Secundo, the North has its borders to China, and everybody knows that VN was dominated by the Chinese for 1000 years, so it was natural that there had been quite a lot of racial mixing between the 2 countries. The Northern vietnamese have more slanted eyes and fairer skin than the Southern people in general.

Hell no.... the pale skinned Vietnamese girls stay out of the sun and bleach their skin to be so...

Go to China or Singapore, you will see girls with naturally light skin all over the place.

The vast majority of Vietnamese are tanned, with some so tanned they are closer to black than they are white.

I look at some VN girls with there white faces and tanned arms and it is obvious it is make up.

The VN men don't care what tint their skin is. You are what you are.
