ill be arriving in saigon on may12 th, it will be my third trip to vietnam. last time i spent 3 months travelling from sapa in the north to mekong delta in the south. in hcm city there are many things to do and see with several side excursions to do. i used all local buses to reach connecting cities such as dalat, mui ne beach, nha trang etc which are all only a few hours journey from saigon, and worthwhile doing. i stay in budget accommodation which are usually family owned and run of a good standard with prices ranging from US$5-$20 a night depending on the size of the city, it is clean, air-con, hot water and good locations. i suggest you buy a lonely planet book on vietnam, its packed with everything you need. if you stay in district 1 in saigon, around bui vein st is where most tourists hang out, its safe and plenty of hotels and eating places there. have fun there as i will soon, good luck. |

In Ho Chi Minh City, there are alot of places to go and alot of hotels too. When I went there, we went to Dam Sen and Ho Thuy Tien. You will see so many hotels you won't have to worry about that. If you don't feel scared when you're on your own then you could do that. But if you want to have company, then you should do a group tour. But saigon is a very busy place, not exactly the safe place you know, don't go anywhere alone. |
