Sharing hotel room law in Vietnam? |
Does anyone know about this law in Vietnam that doesn't allow an unmarried couple to share the same hotel room? I'm told that my girlfriend (who's vientamese) and I have to hold two separate rooms. The hotel admin. don't care if we stay in separate rooms during the night. They say they have to do it for their records. Thanks |

I have come across this problem a few times, its very much hit and miss, certainly in the more expensive hotels you wont have a problem,i would think your best bet is to just contact them and ask,
I would also like to say that the hotels are not trying to trick you, there records are regularly checked by the police,if the hotel as not give a little money to the police, they could in extreme cases enter your room and try to accuse your girlfriend of prostitution, they also are looking for money.
I am English and live in Nha Trang,if you are visiting here just post on Q/A your budget and when you are coming and i will look out for and recommend you a hotel, please dont let what i have wrote put you off, like i say its hit and miss, and most off the time you wont have a problem. |

Yes there is. I just came back there last Dec and I'm not sure how "faithful" they actually follow through w/ the law. If you're a foreigner, whose girlfriend/partner is a Vietnamese citizen, and don't have a marriage license, the hotel won't let you 2 stay in the same room. (Just to prevent the call girls or something like that, I heard) |

just " check in" legitimately,[ is she REALY your girlfriend?] with id cards, visa/ passport etc, and there should be no problem....try another hotel... god knows there are enough of them. |

There is such a law there and well enforced especially by the bigger and more established hotels.
Nope, the Vietnamese are not out to suck your money all the time and they are not VIETCONGS but nice people who needs a little respect also. (for Calif for)
Smaller hotels normally closes an eye to this regulation and you can beat the whole system by renting a small apartment which is actually cheaper compared to an established hotel.
Enjoy your stay. |

Those Vietcong probably try to trick you into spending more money by renting 2 rooms. Why don't you check with the authority? |
