Should I convert canadian money into USD or wait til I am in VN and get Dong or USD?
Right now it would be better to convert to Euros. The gentleman above is correct though. ATM's are everywhere and that makes it safer and easier The Dollar is bouncing up and down right now but primarily down. So if you have to carry currency the Euro is real stable and has actually been going up in value. Small denomination US dollars are a good fall back in the outer provinces and small towns. It's just up to you to determine whats easiet and safest for you!

Don't worry how to convert them. Just bring your Credit Card or Debit Card with you. In big cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, you can even pay with cards in plaza or shops, don't need to exchange or anything. If you want to pay to small stuffs, you can go to the bank there and convert. There are many ways...

I saw that it was possible to change C$ in the larger cities in Vietnam, but Im not sure what the rates were like.
Take some US$ though, because it's by far the easiest to change in smaller towns.

I never carry cash. I suggest an ATM card. Much safer.
I have not been to VN yet. BKK was fine with Debit card.
