Vietnam
that's where i'm from
Well me i live down South, Ho Chi Minh city formerly known as Saigon represent. It's an awesome place to be. Traffic isn't exactly one of the best things about this place but other than that, it's great. The nightlife here is awesome and people are pretty friendly too. HCMC is the busiest city in Vietnam, not a lot of place to visit here but if you're a party person then it's the place for you. Just gotta get a guide or something to show you around though. Lol.
Beaches in Vietnam, well the good ones i know are Nha Trang and Mui Ne. Nha Trang has awesome beaches with white sand and all, as Miss Universe '08 took place there in Vin Pearl(an island near to Nha Trang), but as far as i know Mui Ne has some of the greatest resorts. There are a few other beaches which i heard are extraordinary but i never got a chance to go there (one is in Da Nang, i think. i don't exactly know where it is though)
And there are also the highlands. The most well known one has got to be Dalat. It's kinda pretty up there, with all the villas and gardens. The weather is pretty cool too, so you don't sweat there as much as you do somewhere else in VN. However, not a lot of recreation activities to do there, but quite a lot of attractions like waterfalls and mountains and stuff.
Then near to the North, Hue city. I went there when i was younger and i loved it. Lots of historic places like palaces and stuff...
Up North is Hanoi, the capital city. It's not so big, the city, but busy and friendly. It's quite like Ho Chi Minh city except for the fact that the buildings and architecture in Hanoi are ancient, less modern. Streets there are smaller too. But overall, both of Vietnam's fastest growing cities have a beauty in their own ways.
Somewhere near Hanoi, (yeah, i still struggle when it comes to identifying the location of a city in VN, despite the fact that i've lived here for years now) is the beautiful Ha Long bay. Honestly if you come to Vietnam, this is one monumental place you gotta check out.
So yea, that's all i can think of. Hope this helped. |

It's awesome! very cheap & affordable - I went there for 2 weeks last year...started in Hanoi, which is the capital city & very interesting mix of Vietnamese/Chinese culture with French colonial architecture. The best part of the city to stay in is the "old quarter" for budget accom. & go visit Truc Bac Lake & the capital buildings.
*If you go north visit the mountain village of Sapa...
Then take the train south & stop in Hoi An, then keep going to the beach town Nha Chang. Take a bus further south to the small resort village Mui Ne for the best beaches in Vietnam, and there's also sand dunes near by...
That far south you're close to the big city Ho Chi Mihn (aka Saigon). I didn't see it this trip but if I go back that's where I'll start. There's also a resort island called Phu Quoc south of Cambodia that both countries argue over ownership - you can fly there from Saigon. |
