UncleBen
I served in Vietnam 2 1/2 years in the mid 60's at an old French fort in Da Nang. My details may be wrong but I heard that the Communists invaded a garrison occupied by the French in 1954 (just 11 years before I got there) and slaughtered the French officers by slitting their throats while they slept. That was supposedly the begining of the battle of Dien Bien Phu. I often thought what it must have been like to have fought on either side and when I had guard duty there and those thoughts helped keep me on my toes.
