Go to Vietnam first after Hong Kong. Saigon (Ho Chi Minh city) has changed dramatically since 1975. Keep in mind, it won't be like Hong Kong since Vietnam was in the war for a long time. However, you would appreciate to see how people transform from a communist (country) into a lively city that you may not think this place is under the communist regime.

train north along coast to hanoi dropping off at the 'lonely planet' stops,then get an excursion to cat ba island, 4 - 5 days return, then flight to chang mai (thailand) and take excursion to luang prabang (laos), and back, do the forest and hill tours, then to bangkok, and a bus to seam reap (absolute must is to stay at the 'dead fish' restaurant and hotel with crocs in the bar!(ankhor wat) on the infamous dancing road, boat to phnom penn stay by the lake for a bit in the 'travellers ghetto', - then choose where next, try to get down to sihanoukville on the southern coast by bus |
