Taxi from Hanoi airport to hotel?

We paid $12 from AirPort to Van Mieu Hotel last month. You could take the bus; but if you have luggage and don't speak the language you could have a big hassle.

We use the bus when we go around HaNoi or a motor bike. A motor bike is only $6.00 US. Hanoi Bus has a good webpage you can look at. Just Search Yahoo. Cheers C

i have never come to Hanoi , but my friend was there and told me that taxi in Hanoi is expensive and much chaotics than in SGN except for the bus . U can try to find out the bus map and pick it up if u dont feel uncomfortable with this transport. Besides , there r some others transports in VN like cyclo, hiring bike....okay first time coming here , I guess taxi is the most convenient one !!!!

The bus is an interesting option, but if you don't know the route, you have a problem, and there are issues of being crowded.

When I was last there, Feb 08, the taxis were US$10 to town - if you know your hotel, you exit the airport, walk across the first lane of traffic and on the island look to see the taxi stands. There is a big sign there, in English, it will give you the current rate into town. There will be helpful people there as well who if you show them your hotel they will tell the driver where you want to go. It used to be US$10, but inflation and increased gas prices are a real problem, so the price may have gone up. Look for the sign!!!!

hi. if u come to Hanoi the airport at midnight so it's no bus for u to take, u can take the minibus ( it's a van actually ) with 30.000VND ( less than 2$) to Quang Trung str.. till there u can take the taxi, it's cheaper than take the taxi from the airport. but if u want to go alone so take the taxi with the cost less than 20$ ( gastroline in Vietnam now is more expensive so i think u have to pay more ) take the taxi which u can c name of the company n ask them for money first (remember just around 20$) last time my friend went to Hanoi n spent 150$ for the taxi, poor guy... be careful.. have fun in my city.:)

When i went to Hanoi we wanted to take the bus, but as changing money took so long, there were no busses when we got out of the airport. The taxi was not that expensive but he left us at the wrong hotel.
We shared the taxi with someone else who had been to Hanoi before who had a map of Hanoi and who followed the itinerary closely.

So I would suggest try to have already some cash before you land and then take the bus, if you don't have too much luggage that's OK, because once you are in the city center you can take a cyclotaxi to drive you to the hotel (and believe me: it will be a bit scary the first time, but it's OK and you will enjoy it).

I am a trip adviser live in Hanoi. For your questions, i would like to advise you that: if you want to save $$$ you should take a bus from Noi Bai International airport in Hanoi to the center of Hanoi with cost 5.000 VND (it about 30 cent). Or if you want more comfortable, at Hanoi airport there are plenty taxi, you can catch one from airport to your hotel in Hanoi (Star 2) cost 250,000 VND (it about 15.00 USD.
