I would say the best way to travel to those places is train
when you take a bus,It's always crowed and a little bit dangerous.transport by bus for a long distance is crazy :D:D

Book a flight seems to be a good choice but when you fly you would never seen the beauty of the other towns but it will be there earlier
Though you want to go to nhatrang but by train you can see the other towns too.The view is really nice

anyway train tickets or bus are avaible to buy online.I am not sure but I heard that from my friends living there

good luck!

Nha Trang, Hoi An (Da Nang) and Hue are all along the train route, so assuming there are no big holidays with lots of travelers when you arrive, you should be able to get tickets - but I think only one segment at a time. Train travel is pretty decent, get a sleeper, and enjoy the ride.

You can get tickets at the train stations. Vietnam Airlines offices / ticket sellers are everywhere.

my favourite places were dalat 2 days, nga trang 2 days, hoi an/my son, 3 days bus to da nang, then flight or train to hanoi, 2 days 1 night to halong bay, book flights when there is ok if not their holiday time. it a great place and so cheap there

i was there about 4 years ago and i bought a bus ticket for $20 US and it took me all the way up to hanoi, however, time wasnt an issue for me. The good thing about the bus was that you could book the day before you wanted to go and at the other end the bus would drive you around to different accommodation options (often places they get commission from ) and if you suggested other places you wanted to go to it would also take you there so you never had to worry about lugging you gear around. This would be a good option up until Hue. from HUe to Hanoi its a LONG journey i did an overnighter on the bus. I would say if you are short of time try and get a flight here to hanoi.

My stand out places were:
Hoi An
Dalat
Halong Bay

I didnt go that much on Nha Trang personally i would say spend mre time in halong bay at the hanoi end, you can stay overnight on a houseboat, and its just amazing!

In regards to booking before you go, perhaps you may have to on the flight but regarding the train i would presume you could book once you are there and at least then you could have a chance to look around at the prices etc once you are there its always much easier and usually cheaper that way.

Have fun!!

Book your internal travel after you arrive and you will save a bundle. There are agencies everywhere and most are pretty good. Your hotel on arrival can probably help you
