get the sleeper car ,go at night if you can... its an easy if long ride... i love the train...ptobably 2=3 a day from sai gon... enjoi no worries mate... oh get the lower birth..hard sleeper, ac cars/soft sleepers have closed windows..a bit clostrophobic[ and larely even the hard sleepers have cusions...]

Travelled to Hue from SaiGon last month. I'd suggest a 4 birth air conditioned sleeper cabin. More privacy and room. You will have to go to DaNang, as the train doesn't stop at Hoian. You can arrange transportation from there to go there. It is not very far from DaNang. Trains are very safe; but not very fast. Have great trip. Cheers C
