coke the question was going to the usa not going to vietnam. as for the question i don't know how to answer it but I would google the American Embassy in Vietnam the web site will give you all the information your need to know.

TheOne
She needs to apply for it in Vietnam....all the travel paper work.....ticket...You only need to give her your information like: Name, relation, address, phone numbers.....the approval is all up to the goverment.

Yes your cousin needs to apply for a tourist Visa.

VIETNAM - *Passport and visa required. Visa requires 1 application form, 1 passport sized photo, and SASE. Visa fee should be paid by money order or cashier’s check, payable to the Embassy of Vietnam. For business visa, applicant must provide appropriate documentation from his/her sponsor in Vietnam. For specific requirements and current visa fees, contact the Embassy of Vietnam, 1233 20th St., NW, Suite 400, Washington, DC 20036 (202/861-2293 or 861-0694). As "The One' posted, she must apply for an American Tourist Visa at either the US Embassy in Hanoi or the Consulate in Saigon. The non-refundable fee is $100 usd.
I will caution you that a Tourist Visa is extremely hard to obtain. Before I was married, I tried to bring my (now) wife and step-daughter to the US for the summer school vacation.
My wife and I owned two houses and 10 acres of land at the time and she was turned down. The consulate officer told her she needed to have $20,000 usd in a Viet bank to ensure her return. The value of our real estate did not matter, even though it was worth much more than $20K. In addition, I have owned the same house in America for 14 years and offered to post a bond ensuring their return.
Most if not all tourist visa's are given to very old people (I have no idea, why), very rich people (20K in the bank is considered rich in VN), or family and friends of government officials. If your cousin doesn't meet one of those descriptions, the chances are that she will pay $100 for nothing.
Best of luck.

ps. My wife had a letter from our congressman, but the Viet security guard (at the Consulate) would not let her bring that in. If you get the same type of letter, tell her not to show it to the guards. she may have a better chance.
